The 6Ps to a Phenomenon
They say success comes at an expense, but a phenomenon is built with investment. (I) Read and reflected on what corporate India should invest in (a set of 6Ps)…
Patience: Women’s suffrage took 150+ years to be a reality in all countries but the united patience offered by women to the ballot stands out as the single largest movement in the world.
Persona: Thatcher ruled in the bad years, Indira worse and Aung San Suu Kyi the worst. They are responsible for the way our world has shaped.
Professionalism: WTA fought with ATP for equal pay for the sexes and won it after 34 years (when Wimbledon, finally, granted). Not a word of celebration followed, the show just moved on!
Purpose: Marissa Mayer was pregnant when she took over Yahoo and soon had twins in 3 years from her happy marriage. Sheryl Sandberg‘s moving tribute to the 49th birthday of Dave Goldberg suggests a wider purpose: a great wife, mom and home maker in addition to the professional. There are millions of women armed with it, just look around.
Pursuit: For the last 20 years, Indian exam boards have witnessed a higher pass percentage for women than men. Symbolic of pursuit, dedicated and blinkered!
Poise: Alexander‘s calculated aggression, Gandhi‘s perseverance, Vishy‘s concentration on the chess board: all path breaking feats were powered by the poise of Olympias, Kasturba and Aruna, rocks of strength and advisors of acumen rolled into one.
At OfBusiness, we are not advocates of women empowerment, we think they are already so in our world. But we do believe that they bring these 6Ps, a package we deeply aspire for. Though a long way to go, we have taken a few baby steps but 2018 is when we will rock it.
Happy Sunday and expect a lot from 2018!
