Team Legal and Compliance: Au Fait…! “ignorantia juris non-excusat”

This triumphant journey of more than 2.5 years has been a memorable one, right from taking the first step into OfBusiness. The journey so far has been revolutionary in terms of individual and organizational growth. In the process, I have had the opportunity to interact with exceptional lawyers who assisted us in our funding rounds. I feel proud while I recall my interview, they mentioned that there is a requirement of a Company Secretary as Investors have put forth this condition in our agreement. It was very exciting to hear the words ‘Investors’ and the rest is history. I instantly decided to become a part of OfBusiness and worked dedicatedly with all fervor. With time passing by, I realized that the efforts put in by everyone here are remarkable and it further pushed me to put all the more efforts, energy, values, commitment to the company and helped me attract more investors to invest in our organization.

The next task was to build my own team in September for ‘Compliance and Legal’. It gives me immense happiness to hear good things about my team when something extraordinary follows the same order of scheme as we expected it to be. It is really heartening to see when everyone in the team is investing equally in order to achieve the overall objective and goal of the team. You find yourself in a good place when you work hard and obtain excellence for both yourself and the company. My team comprises of (For Compliance) Rashi Shrivastava, Ayushi Aggarwal, Vani Chaudhary (For Legal) Shreya Sharma, Yash Tyagi, Daksh Tyagi, Allon Tripathy, and Varun Bhutani. It feels good when you learn and experience different facets of leadership, which are not limited to books but you get to experience the transformation yourself.

The key achievements for the team in CY 2019 are as follows:

a. Identifying the core areas for individual team members viz. division of compliance duties for each legal entity of the group to ensure timely and effective compliance, contract management and region wise and category wise division of litigation;

b. Raising funds through the issuance of Multiple Unlisted Non- Convertible Debentures and commercial papers

c. Ensuring consequent compliance under SEBI and other regulations applicable to debt listed companies;

d. Successful Funding Compliances including legal due diligence

e. The transition of compliance under RBI from NSI to SI in June- July;

f. Ensuring labor law compliance for the entire group apart from payroll in August- September;

g. On-time annual filings under CA, 2013, half-yearly compliance Under RBI, SEBI, and CA- November and December.

We are a team of professionals with an average age of 25 but the aroma of our work spreads all around the organization which reflects perfectly in the adage — “Age is a case of mind over matter, if you don’t mind it, it doesn’t matter.”
